Two results of some more experimenting I've been doing with my camera. I'm lucky to have friends who are willing to patiently explain things to me over and over (thanks T and J) and of course P who is such help too when he has the time!

I spoke to K in Canada last night. I was lucky to catch her just prior to her going down for surgery to put some stents in her lungs to help her breathing. She is sounding so much better - much more her old self! She was really chatty despite being fed up with a month-long hospital stay. She's hoping to go home by the end of next week.

Thanks everyone for the prayers and positive thoughts sent K's way. I have told her that people all over the world have been thinking of her and she really believes that all the support she has has got her through yet another crisis.

We are off to my in-laws for a roast dinner :) I love roast dinner if I'm not cooking.

I would like to see that amazing black tulip with some of the stem showing....and i love ANY dinner if I haven't cooked it! B is making us some Nigella Lawson meatballs and pasta for our dinner, I can cook, I love to cook but B is really enjoying his new cooking hobby and who am I to stop him??

What a lovely tulip, CG. My mother used to have "black" tulips in her garden. This photo reminds me of them.

I'm so enjoying looking at your work.

Will continue to remember your friend K over here. It's so sad that she's been through so much.

May I put a link to your blog on mine?

Enjoy your roast beef dinner! Would love someone to make me one. I have some shin in my crock pot for later. Love that too.

Thanks for the comments, ladies. You are right, Marianne, I got in really close and will remember some stem for next time.

Will certainly link blogs, Pat. Enjoy your crockpot supper. I only just discovered crockpot cooking and it's a real joy!!

I am so glad to read that K is more like her old self again and should be home soon - that's absolutely wonderful news! Please tell her that I'm thinking of her and wishing her well.

Mmmmm roast dinner. I love them, especially when someone else is cooking!! (Particularly my mom!)

The tulip looks beautiful in B&W - it shows the water droplets off wonderfully. Like Pat said, it reminds me of a black tulip - how I love them; my mom used to plant some just for me.

Enjoy your dinner!!

These shots are great. I love the flowers and the chess piece on the board. I am always amazed in photography at how amazing the simplest of subjects can be...nice shots!
