I can't remember if I ever posted this on my blog. It's on my wonderful digital photo frame and always catches my eye when it comes on.
What a busy day!! This morning, I was sitting around on the sofa with a coffee and contemplating nothing more strenuous that a bit of very light housework when I had a phone call from my lovely friend CH who was going to Chester and wanted to pop in and see me on her way back. Well, I was really delighted but the house was not fit to receive visitors so I did some frantic tidying and cleaning. The girls' bathroom which is also our main bathroom was particularily disgusting so I cleaned it very thoroughly and also tidied the linen cupboard; chucking out a load of disgusting old "dog towels" lurking in there from Charlie days!
And after all that she didn't ACTUALLY use the loo!!
In days gone by when we had a freestanding cooker instead of a built-in one, I used to have these stupid compulsions to clean behind the cooker whenever we had visitors. I think I'm mad, really.
I rushed off to RDA then on my way back remembered I had to make biscuits for our work Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday. I was midway through mixing these when CH arrived. We had a lovely natter over a cup of tea but all too soon I had to go to collect S from hockey practice and she left to avoid the rush hour. I hope she comes again for a proper visit as I didn't get a chance to show her the garden or anything. At least she finally met Basil and Shea.
I am at work the next three days, worse luck :(

He dear Julie,
Take care the coming 3 days , I hope you like your work, I love this photograph, very mysterious... I love it!
Your NOT mad Julie! Than I am too, I do the same when I get visiters, thats for me a reason to clean..
Have agood week and take care Hughs :)
It seems we all have days like that. Some jobs get done which we might put off when someone is coming. Been there an one that.
haha@the cooker pulling out! I only asked Barry yesterday if he would pull it out as we are having visitors on saturday! And the cleaning of the bathroom, I like to do a good clean whilst I am still in the shower as our shower is in the bath, I always feel happier when the bathroom and kitchen is done, the rest of the crafty mess can be put in bags and hidden!
What a great shot!
You cleaned behind the cooker?? Are you mad woman???? I used to clean the sides but never moved it out- thank goodness for my built in cooker now.
LOL.. you should have made her drink more tea so she would have to go to the bathroom and see the results of your cleaning :)
I'm the same when company is coming. Its the only time things like the fridge gets cleaned.
Oh and I like the shot. It looks like a ribbon in the sky.
LOL Julie, I was coming to see you, not to inspect the housework, or inspect your plumbing!! :)
I was conscious that I'd given you no notice and I didn't want to outstay my welcome. However, I promise to stay longer next time. Thank you for the cup of tea. Lovely to see you, and hopefully I'll meet Sian and see the garden next time too xx
I love the photo. That's the kind of sky that stops me in wonder.
You should have innocently asked, "Do you need to go to the loo before your drive?"
Lovely Wife and I joke that we need to ask someone over to our home at least every year or so, so that we'll be forced to clean the whole house.
I always think it is a good idea when somebody calls before they pop in....I ALWAYS have to have a frantic tidy up! Infact that is what I should be doing now, before I embark on my epic bulb planting session! LOL!
