The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all your Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it

-- Omar Khayyam (trans E Fitzgerald.)

My father used to have these words on a card pinned to his writing desk. As a child I read them over and over, enjoying the cadence, not really pondering much on the meaning. Oh, how terribly sad and true these words are to me now.

How well you photo portrays those words :o(
“When things are bad, we take comfort in the thought that they could always be worse. And when they are, we find hope in the thought that things are so bad they have to get better.”
Not sure who wrote these words but they came to my mind when I read your post.

Hi Cj,
What a tathing words by you dad, no wonder that you are creative, its almost hard to believe that words can make sense. But I believe they will once, ever get back to their meaning.

A beautiful combination of words and photography CJ, of course tha photo itself is impressive, you made it even more by the words,

HUGH JoAnn :)

I love that quotation. It reminds me of the need to live in the moment, to keep short accounts, and to always be willing to say "I'm sorry" or to forgive a wrong. The photo is perfect, too.

The dead tree is beautiful and the black and white is perfect. It is also perfect with your words.

This is my kind of photo, though I hate that this old tree has given up the ghost.
