The Blissful Artist is getting new glasses...and so am I (see above). I really like them and am looking forward to collecting them.

Now I'm getting older, I've been having problems with my contact lenses. I am shortsigted but as I've aged I've noticed I can read better without my glasses or lenses. With my glasses it's easy; I just look underneath them. Can't do that with my lenses obviously! So i've not been wearing them that much.

My optician suggested I try monovision with my lenses. This idea seemed really strange. Basically, one lens corrects a single eye for distance; the other lens corrects the other eye for close-up vision. The brain sorts out the resulting confusion to give decent vision in all circumstances. You can get bifocal lenses but apparently they are less stable than single vision ones.

So I am test-driving my monovision lenses and so far so good. Who would have believed it???

I've never heard of this. I tried the progressive lenses but could not adapt.

So I juggle 2 different pairs.

Hope this works out. Let us know how the adjustment goes.

the frames are spiffy :)

Very stylish they are, too.

I haven't worn contact lenses in years and can't imagine using one eye for distance and the other for close up. I'm glad it's working out for you, thought.

I'm finding out that 'varifocals' is what you Brits call trifocals. I've also had lots of encouragement from people who already wear them, so I'm feeling a bit better about it now!

OOOH I've never heard of those! Keep us posted on how you're doing with them.

I have progressive bifocals and still look under them to read the small print on something.
Glasses are great but I can't live with them or without them.
I think these will look quite glamorous on you.

I've had progressive (tri-focal) for a year now. I still hate the darn things.

A couple of years ago I noticed a quick and dramatic eyesight change and went to the eye doctor and I am now the proud owner of one nearsighted eye and one farsighted eye. Lucky me.
