I have tried and tried, begged and BEGGED for some help in the house. Nothing major just to sort out the clean underwear once a week and push the hoover around the ground floor twice a week.

But clearly my begging, bribing, cajoling, pleading, yelling etc has no effect. I'm now working full time (including two days when I'm out the house from 8.15 to 8.15), trying to keep my small business going and STILL doing virtually all the housework and gardening (as hubby works even longer hours!)

I'm tired, I'm tired, I'm tired. I'm nearly 50 and I'm doing more than I did when I was 20 or 30!

Last night after a fabulous Green Day concert, I felt so happy. And tonight I feel so ...crappy.

Oh well...tomorrow is another day!

A friend may have dropped you hun, as my mum would say "Their loss" Remember you have good friends here and you know where I am! I only wish I lived nearer and I would come round with the hoover hun. (((HUGS)))

When MWM was working I used to do everything - cleaning, cooking, shopping, washing, ironing, gardening, decorating even though I was working almost full time (32 1/2 hours a week). When he retired he took over everything bar the cooking and when he realised how hard it was he apologised to me most profusely for not having helped me more when he was working. Now I'm retired we share all the chores often doing things like shopping, cleaning and gardening together.

Your hubby may be working long hours too but you could still share the load. Put it to him for your sanity and your health m'dear. x

things sound tough at the moment and a little bit like you are doing too much....know that your blog buddies are thinking bout you and draw strength from that if you can.

One solution that has worked for some women: Go on strike. Seriously, just refuse to do any housework at all. This will take quite a bit of restraint and patience on your part to do nothing for perhaps weeks... but the payoff will be heartening. Try it.

Just like Annie, I think we're living in a parallel universe too. It must be the curse of the modern day working mum. I don't work full time but I work over-time day in, day out in the house. Hang in there. I'm sure you're doing a fantastic job XXX

If I was on your side of the Pond I would be there for you. I agree that its your "friend's" loss not yours.
Your daughters really do need to step up to the challenges of housework. It just doesn't magically get done.

The last time my husband did dishes was when I was 28 years old; I am now 60.
