There are some wonderful houses along 17-Mile Drive. I really liked this one, perched on the cliff. Imagine waking up to that sort of view, every day!

Mind you, the view from my back garden this morning was pretty nice. Loads of birds in the big hawthorn hedge, eating the berries. The holly is also full of berries. I wonder if this signifies a hard winter to come? I'd like some cold weather instead of the awful mild damp and dreary winter we had last year.

I love the 17 mile drive! I was in constant awe the whole time we drove thru, which took us quite some time with all the stops we made on the way to see the beautiful scenery.

I can't wait to go back there again some day!

Love the gnarled tree and you can bet that that house overlooking the ocean costs more than you or I will ever hope to have.

I had to search the photo for the house, thought you meant the log was a home! I hate it to be wet and mild in winter, it's so depressing, love it crisp and sunny!

I guess that would be nice since they don't get hurricanes that far up the California coast.

I look in longing at some of the beach homes here, until I remember what many of them looked like after 2 direct hits in 2004, and I don't wish to live there so much any more.

I know you've probably said this time before... but where IS that 17 mile drive? It doesn't look very British...

No wonder this is one of your favorites. I'd love to live there. I like that piece of drift wood in the front of the photo.

I noticed the holly up the lane had lots of berries, I also wondered if the winter was going to be harsh!
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I love the setting..the old tree in the foreground is fabulous. Love that photo on your Wednesday post too ...so beautiful :o)
Had to smile at your tidying for visitors....I once cleaned the whole house from top to toe before my posh sister-in-law came...she only stayed half an hour and spent the whole of that time in the garden! Hope you've had a pleasant weekend...lots of sun here but chilly nights. I heard that this winter will be cold and dry.

I've wondered how it would be living so close to the sea. The California coast is generally pleasant, but I'll bet it's wild in a storm.

I hope your winter is good and cold without the damp and constant drip. I feel your pain having lived in Oregon over 12 winters that were much the same as you generally have. Bleak, to say the least.
