Two of my firework photos from Friday night. I took around 30 and only about 4 were any good. It was quite a different thing for me to try using the DSLR and manual settings. There is a bit of camera shake as although I was using a tripod I forgot to check the manual to see if I could use my remote shutter release on bulb setting - I can, but only found out how when I got home and checked the manual!!

I'm also cross that I forgot to adjust my camera angle so as to include the QE2 as well as the waterfront. Oh well...!

Lovely photos, Jules. Fireworks are not easy to capture. I think you did well.

These turned out really well though. I remember the bad old days when I would hope to have 2 or 3 really nice shots on a 36 exposure roll of film. I don't really miss that at all, though I still like the different way slide and negative films look vs digital.

Every time I try something new, I mess something up. I forget how to do or set some feature and find it later in the manual. I by-golly learn it then! That's why I couldn't believe my panoramas came out as well as they did. Though I was alone and took my own sweet time with them.

I have to say that your firework photos are great! I have resigned myself to not take any more firework photos. I have never got a good one yet and the whole event is usually missed because i am fiddling with thi and that setting on my camera. I now just go and watch the firworks! Hurrah! I enjoy that more than the blurred load of rubbish I get to see on my laptop! Barry can take them after all! lol

Hi Julie,
The photo's are nice and came out well, don't you think so? Or are you not satisfied about the result?

I once made photo's with the nikon 8700 on the 'stand(shutter) for fireworks' and wow! this shutter was SOOOO slow!!! I was surprised about the result, I maybe show the firorks on my blog, I wonder what you think of them than.. I think this one's are okay...

Most people are SINGULARLY unsuccessful taking fireworks, even if they do increase duration of exposure...etc wow those came out amazing!
