Two more B&W abstract shots from San Francisco. I am really happy with the way the top one turned out. I'm working today and this evening we are off to visit my sister in law in Beverley. Her daughter is getting married in October and I'm taking the photos. She's visiting for a dress fitting and to hear the banns being read so it's a good chance for me to chat to her about the sorts of pictures she wants as well as see the church and meet the vicar. All in all it's going to be a really busy weekend.

Shea had a narrow escape yesterday; he jumped out of our bedroom window. As we have a converted attic bedroom, he found himself VERY high up on a steeply pitched roof. P heard him crying for help and looking out of the window saw a poor moggy literally shaking with fear! P was just about able to reach down and haul him in. I think he used up one of his nine lives!!

I heard some strange noises in the kitchen. Basil and I were afraid...we thought we had a burglar. I saw a big fluffy tale sticking out of the kitchen bin.....

I grabbed my camera in case evidence was needed for an arrest. Soon the thief emerged clutching his trophy...a chunk of left-over roast lamb!

He looks a desperate and ruthless individual to me...what do you think?

Catblogging Friday rolls around again...

...and here is Shea hunting frogs. We have renamed him "Fluffy the Frog Slayer".

Lori
made a lovely post earlier this week about making friends on the Internet, specifically via Blogging. I just wanted to say I agree and I'm so pleased to be able to visit my blog friends in their world and share a little bit of their lives. And thanks to everyone who stops by and leaves a comment here - every single one is much appreciated!

Have a wonderful June 1st everyone!

It's catblogging day again and here is Shea drinking from our pond!

P has had a tentative thumbs up from his boss re the unpaid leave he'll need to take to unertake the photographic commission. I'm allowing myself to feel cautiously optimistic and hope that he really WILL be able to ahead and do it. it will mean some travelling and will take up pretty much all of his annual leave as well as the unpaid leave but it really is an amazing opportunity. I'll be able to be specific when i know it's all really going to happen.

TGIF: am REALLY looking forward to the weekend!

Shea has developed a fascination with frogs and I'm constantly rushing out to rescue them from him. He hasn't hurt any yet; he specialises in hovering with menace. I found one poor little fella with his front feet over his eyes today - a friend told me this morning that they did that when threatened by a cat but I didn't believe her...sorry, C, I've now seen it with my own eyes!

I found this little frog on the lawn yesterday and popped him into the pot pond on the deck. He must like it as I noticed him on the rim this afternoon. I still had the macro lens on the D40 and rushed to get it and knelt in the rain on the wet decking to take a few shots. This is the best and it's hand-held. I love the blue of the pot and the vibrant green on the pond grass framing the frog.

The girls and I have been watching the first series of "Life on Mars" on DVD. We're really enjoying it! Last night I spotted an orange bongo lamp identical to one we used to have when I was a kid. It's funny how the fashions don't look too dated as many of the 70's styles are back in fashion again! On the same theme I've just read a good book called "Where did it all go right?" by Andrew Collins, about growing up normal in the '70s. Not nearly as good as Nigel Slater's "Toast" but a pleasant nostalgic read anyway.

I guess I'm going to be limited for cat images for Catblogging Friday now we only have Shea but here's a pic of him asleep on the stairs - I hope he gets bored with this spot as if he doesn't one day I'll fall over him for sure!

We have pretty much decided we'll get another cat as soon as we can make it up to Cumbria to our friends Animal Rescue organisation, Pets Lifeline. For now we're letting Shea sleep with us in case he is lonely which has his disadvantages as the other night I accidentally nudged him with my foot and he bit it - ouch!! Not a good way to wake up in the middle of the night!

Another beautiful sunny day here but the tide was in so no walk around the Marine Lake. Work is going ok but I'm glad it's nearly the weekend...

Wednesday evening....
Two more photos from our visit to the David France collection of Everton memorabilia. One is of Alan Ball's boots; the other of K with some Everton shirts.

I am pleased to report that Shea now seems fully recovered from whatever ailed him! He really scared me for a time. Thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts - I was so worried!!

I've been over in Leeds visiting T; the weather was absolutely lovely and we had a great time visiting garden centres and various other shopping places. It was a really nice break! Only two more days at work and then it's the Easter holidays and we are off for a long weekend to the Lakes!!
