Seeing double...
What a scorching day - my thermometer read 26c this afternoon. I felt quite worn out as I slept really badly last night, waking up at around 5 and then finding it hard to drop off.
Fluffy the Frog Slayer was caught with a baby frog tonight and promptly SAT ON IT in an attempt to avoid another grounding. I picked up the tiny body and it was limp :( I put it in the pot pond and it floated upside down still and lifeless. Then I placed him at the side of the pot and thought I saw his sides move. Back in the pond he went; again floated motionless. Then...a little movement of the legs and he was away. Phew. what a relief.
More chaos in the house...someone wants the bunk beds from K's room so all the clothes from the now-departed wardrobes had to be packed away or redistributed. Now the beds need to be dismantled...
Why do home improvements take so much time, cause so much mess and seem so complicated?

Shea has developed a fascination with frogs and I'm constantly rushing out to rescue them from him. He hasn't hurt any yet; he specialises in hovering with menace. I found one poor little fella with his front feet over his eyes today - a friend told me this morning that they did that when threatened by a cat but I didn't believe her...sorry, C, I've now seen it with my own eyes!

I found this little frog on the lawn yesterday and popped him into the pot pond on the deck. He must like it as I noticed him on the rim this afternoon. I still had the macro lens on the D40 and rushed to get it and knelt in the rain on the wet decking to take a few shots. This is the best and it's hand-held. I love the blue of the pot and the vibrant green on the pond grass framing the frog.

The girls and I have been watching the first series of "Life on Mars" on DVD. We're really enjoying it! Last night I spotted an orange bongo lamp identical to one we used to have when I was a kid. It's funny how the fashions don't look too dated as many of the 70's styles are back in fashion again! On the same theme I've just read a good book called "Where did it all go right?" by Andrew Collins, about growing up normal in the '70s. Not nearly as good as Nigel Slater's "Toast" but a pleasant nostalgic read anyway.

I just counted 20 frogs in our pond, and that's not counting the ones that disappeared before I could count them!! Where have they all come from? Have they been lurking in the pond all winter? I'm intrigued.

Just an ordinary Saturday here. We've been shopping and I'm about to help K make a swiss roll.

I got a remote release for my camera on Thursday. It's the coolest little gadget and it works well.

Catblogging Friday again and I have two pictures of Shea.One is the second picture I took with the new Nikon and the other is a quick snap I took of Shea in the garden. I just liked the way he was looking around at his surroundings.

I've been off work today and went for a long walk in the lanes around Helsby. it was lovely to see signs of spring everywhere; everything coming into bud and all the birds rushing around in the hedges. Earlier on I'd visited the pond and was delighted to see frogspawn! Plus happy frogs intent making more off it! Frogspawn is quite hard to photograph especially when lying on your stomach on cold gravel, holding a compact camera and with an inquisitive cat head-butting you at every opportunity!

I found a trio of very happy-looking mating frogs in the pond this morning! So I'm hoping for a nice crop of frogspawn soon.This is another photo of P's - I think it's really good especially considering it was taken with the compact camera - I'd have dropped it in the pond probably. I will try my hand at frog photos soon though.Maybe with the camera in a plastic bag!

I finally did something I've been meaning to do for months. I rang Riding for the Disabled and asked to be considered as a volunteer. I'm going along next Wednesday for a trial. I'm really excited - I hope I can do this!!

I also did my first training walk for the Race For Life today. J and I did about four miles - we had a great time! We were lucky with the weather and made quite good time.I'm hoping to not find the actual race as painful as last time; when I was afraid i wouldn't be able to continue.
